Azerbaijan to co-produce 60 more armored vehicles with Paramount Group
BAKU – Azerbaijan’s ministry of defense industry will manufacture additional armored vehicles jointly with South Africa’s Paramount Group, the company told AssA-Irada.
Under the 2009 agreement that has been extended, an additional 60 mine protected vehicles will be produced, with deliveries running through to late 2012.
The initial production agreement envisioned delivery of 50 armored vehicles to Azerbaijan’s armed forces. 15 Matador and 15 Marauder combat vehicles have been manufactured, while the remaining 20 vehicles are to be delivered by the end of 2011.
The vehicles, supplied with 14.5 and 12.7 mm machine guns, protect personnel from shrapnel even in case of anti-tank mine explosions.
