May 28 announced Azeri national day in US county
BAKU – May 28 has been announced as the "National Day of Azerbaijan - the 93rd Anniversary of the Azerbaijani Republic" in Orange County, California, the Azerbaijan American Council (AAC) General Director Javid Huseynov said on Wednesday.
The proclamation, issued by Chairman of the Orange County Board, Bill Campbell, says that Azerbaijan became the first secular and democratic state in the Muslim world on May 28, 1918. Azerbaijan left the U.S. to catch up in the establishment of women's suffrage in 1919, and the Nagorno-Karabakh region and Nakhchivan are part of Azerbaijan.
