Greenhouse gas emissions down
The release of greenhouse gas emissions in Azerbaijan is on
downward trend, Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Huseyn
Baghirov said.
The emission of gases causing thermal effect went down from 71.7m tons in 1990 to 50.6m tons in 2005. The amount of released pollutants per capita decreased from 10 to 6 tons accordingly, the minister told a press conference last week.
Baghirov emphasized that the amount of CO2 emissions into the atmosphere in Azerbaijan caused by the use of energy made up 0.2% of the worldwide figure in 1990. The indicator halved in 2005 to make up 3.8 tons per capita.
