"Had it not been for Armenia's military occupation, Azerbaijan would have achieved even greater success in its green energy initiatives," Azernews reports, citing Hikmat Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department, who made the statement on his official X account regarding Armenia's ecological terror in Garabagh and Eastern Zangazur.

In his post, Hajiyev emphasized that these regions, now liberated from Armenia's 30-year military occupation, have been declared net-zero and green energy zones. However, he noted that the prolonged military occupation by Armenia had caused severe ecological damage, hindering Azerbaijan's efforts to achieve its green energy goals.

The occupation left the affected areas with significant damage to their ecosystems, including deforestation, pollution, and the destruction of natural resources. Now, as Azerbaijan works to restore and protect these regions, the government has declared them priority zones for the development of renewable energy projects, aiming to turn them into models of environmental sustainability.

Hajiyev’s remarks shed light on the broader impact of the conflict, not just in terms of territorial disputes, but also in terms of environmental terror that has been inflicted on the country’s natural landscape.
