President Ilham Aliyev meets with President of the Maldives [PHOTOS/VIDEO]
On November 14, Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, met with Mohamed Muizzu, President of the Republic of Maldives, Azernews reports.
Mohamed Muizzu expressed his gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev for the excellent organization of COP29.
The Azerbaijani leader thanked the President of the Maldives for accepting the invitation to participate in the event.
President Ilham Aliyev stated that the Maldives, as an island nation, is particularly vulnerable to the impacts of climate change.
President Ilham Aliyev expressed hope that the discussions during President Mohamed Muizzu’s visit to Azerbaijan would give impetus to the development of bilateral relations.
The Maldivian leader also confirmed that his country is affected by climate change. He expressed confidence that the recent launch of direct flights between the Maldives and Baku would boost tourism and people-to-people ties between the two countries. Mohamed Muizzu also highlighted that the Maldives has implemented a visa-free regime for Azerbaijani citizens and expressed hope that this would be reciprocated in the future.
During the conversation, the Presidents exchanged views on cooperation between the two countries in tourism, investments, and other areas of mutual interest.
