As is known, Azerbaijan has been participating in this complex climate negotiations process from the very beginning, Azernews reports, citing Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov as he made this statement to journalists in the corridors of COP29.

"Unlike many other countries, although we have only 11 months instead of two years, we have done everything possible to create a platform for cooperation aimed at bringing the positions of the parties closer and achieving important results at this conference," the minister noted.

The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed optimism, noting the positive results of the first day of COP29, which began on November 11. "After nearly 20 hours of negotiations yesterday, we were able to reach an outcome on the agenda. The agenda has been approved. Another important result of the first day, as we all know, is the agreement reached on Article 6.4 of the Paris Agreement, which has been under discussion for many years," he added.

According to Bayramov, nearly 60 potential documents are expected to be adopted from the COP29 conference, including the most important one—the agreement on the New Collective Quantified Goal (NCQG), which they hope to achieve.

"There are still differences in the positions of many countries and key players. However, what we see is that everyone is determined and taking this issue very seriously. This means that all key players understand their responsibilities. Therefore, we are in an optimistic mood," the minister emphasized.
