In his interview with journalist at COP29, the renowned Indian yogi and environmental advocate, Sadhguru, emphasized the urgent need for long-term environmental responsibility, Azernews reports.

When asked about the future of children and how to ensure their well-being, Sadhguru highlighted the importance of sustainable practices in agriculture and ecosystem management.

“We should have some sense in our head,” Sadhguru remarked. “When we produce children, we are responsible for at least a hundred years of their well-being. But we currently have only fifty to sixty harvests left, which equates to just twenty-five to thirty years of agriculture.” This alarming statistic, he suggested, underscores the need for immediate action to protect the environment for future generations.

Sadhguru stressed the importance of focusing on nature-based solutions. “Every extra green leaf we put on this planet is a small yet crucial step toward climate mitigation. Soil, not oil, is the most important thing,” he noted. This statement aligns with his broader message on soil conservation, a cause he has championed globally.

Sadhguru, the founder of the Isha Charitable Foundation, arrived in Azerbaijan on November 10 to participate in the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29). His presence at the event highlights the role of spiritual and cultural leaders in the global climate dialogue, emphasizing that sustainable practices and soil health are crucial for securing a livable planet for future generations.
