Heydar Aliyev International Airport issues statement regarding COP29
Due to the transportation restrictions imposed on the main streets and avenues of the capital in connection with the 29th session of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) held in Baku, passengers are advised to use alternative routes and public transport to reach Heydar Aliyev International Airport on time and comfortably, Azernews reports.
According to a statement from the airport, drivers coming from the city center to the airport can use the Zigh highway, while those arriving from the Bilgah and Mashtaga directions can access the Zigh highway via Mardakan and Shuvelan.
During the COP29 event, H1 and H2 express buses will operate continuously to ensure smooth transportation for passengers to Heydar Aliyev International Airport. The H1 bus departs from the "28 May" metro station at 10-minute intervals, while the H2 bus departs from the "Ahmadli" metro station every 15 minutes. It is worth noting that until November 14, the fare for these public transport services is free of charge.
Passengers are recommended to arrive at the airport at least 3 hours before their flight, taking into account possible transportation restrictions.
The parking area in front of Baku airport is reserved for special-purpose vehicles until November 14, and private cars are not allowed to park there. Only passenger drop-off and pick-up are permitted. Additionally, access to Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 is allowed only for passengers holding flight tickets. People accompanying passengers are kindly asked not to come to the airport.
