Azerbaijan's Memorandum with UN on cooperation approved
On October 11, 2024, in Baku, the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in Security between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Secretariat of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the Kyoto Protocol, and the Paris Agreement was signed and approved, Azernews reports.
This was confirmed by a decree signed by President Ilham Aliyev.
The decree states that, following the entry into force of the Memorandum of Understanding mentioned in the first section, the designated President of the 29th Conference of the Parties to the UNFCCC (COP29), the 19th Meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol, and the 6th Meeting of the Parties to the Paris Agreement will ensure the implementation of its provisions.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan will send a notification to the Secretariat of the UNFCCC, the Kyoto Protocol, and the Paris Agreement, informing them that the necessary internal state procedures for the entry into force of the Memorandum of Understanding have been completed.
