On November 6, 2024, a solemn event dedicated to November 8 - Victory Day was held in Seoul, South Korea, organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Republic of Korea, Azernews reports.

The event was opened with a speech by Ramin Hasanov, the Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Republic of Korea. He spoke about the significance of November 8 - Victory Day in Azerbaijan's modern history. He noted that the historical injustice against the Azerbaijani people, which lasted for 30 years and was ignored by the international community, was brought to an end by the glorious victory achieved by the Azerbaijani army in the 44-day Patriotic War. He emphasized that the victory not only led to the liberation of Azerbaijani territories that had been occupied and devastated by Armenia but also played a crucial role in restoring the rights of Azerbaijani IDPs (internally displaced persons).

Ramin Hasanov stressed that this victory was made possible by the foresight and determination of the President of Azerbaijan and victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief, Ilham Aliyev, the fighting spirit of the Azerbaijani people, who never accepted the occupation of their lands, and their national unity. He paid respectful tribute to the memory of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the homeland and wished recovery to the war veterans.

Although the deep wounds inflicted by the recent conflict have not yet healed, the ambassador emphasized that Azerbaijan is ready to live in peace with Armenia. He also mentioned that Azerbaijan had proposed signing a peace treaty with Armenia and shared information about the progress of peace talks, the delimitation and demarcation of borders, and other aspects of Azerbaijan's peace agenda. He stressed that if Armenia takes sincere steps towards peace with Azerbaijan, lasting peace in the region could be achieved.

Ramin Hasanov also spoke about the ongoing reconstruction efforts in the liberated regions of Garabagh and Eastern Zangazur, the humanitarian mine problem, and other challenges and issues. He highlighted Azerbaijan's efforts to strengthen regional cooperation, its active diplomacy on the global stage, and noted that Azerbaijan will host the upcoming COP29 summit.

Following the speeches, a reception was held for the guests. Korean jazz musicians performed pieces from world and Azerbaijani music.

As part of the event, a photo exhibition reflecting the Victory Day was held, and various printed materials about Azerbaijan were made available to the attendees.

The event was attended by ambassadors accredited in Korea, representatives from the political, economic, scientific, and cultural circles of Korea, media representatives, as well as members of the Azerbaijani diaspora.
