bp launches Azerbaijani edition of "Green Skills for Kids" to promote sustainability education
bp today unveiled the Azerbaijani version of "Green Skills for Kids" ("Uşaqlar üçün Yaşıl Biliklər"), a book aimed at fostering environmental awareness and sustainability among young learners, Azernews reports citing the press-service of bp.
The launch is part of bp's ongoing commitment to supporting Azerbaijan’s sustainable development and educational excellence.
The primary objective of the project is to instill a culture of sustainability by educating children and helping them develop crucial environmental skills at the preschool, elementary, and secondary school levels.
The book is designed to be a valuable resource for parents, educators, and young students who are eager to make a positive impact on the environment. It introduces key topics such as sustainable development, energy conservation, water management, waste reduction and recycling, sustainable living, and the green economy in an engaging, child-friendly format.
Addressing the launch event, Bakhtiyar Aslanbayli, bp's Vice President for the Caspian Region, emphasized the importance of early education in environmental responsibility.
"By cultivating environmental awareness and skills, children can grow into engaged and responsible citizens," he said. "They will be empowered to make sustainable choices that help protect our planet for future generations."
Aslanbayli also highlighted the urgency of addressing climate change and environmental issues. "It is crucial to educate children about sustainable living and eco-friendly practices. By nurturing green skills from an early age, we are preparing the next generation to be environmentally conscious citizens capable of making a meaningful impact."
The 168-page book consists of nine chapters, with a conclusion that offers a comprehensive, yet accessible, approach to developing green skills. The content is presented in a simple and engaging way, supported by illustrations, interactive activities, and games that capture children's interest. It also includes an explanatory vocabulary of environmental terms and local and international legislation, all tailored to be easily understood by young readers.
The publication will be distributed to local schools, libraries, and relevant academic institutions as a gift from bp. The total cost of the project, which covers the development and publication of the book, amounts to 41,500 AZN (approximately $24,400 USD).
The book was developed by GEM CSR Consulting LLC, with Liya Bayramova as the author.
