Azerbaijan's Ombudsperson meets with professor Ilber Ortayli [PHOTOS]
A meeting was held at the Office of the Ombudsman with renowned Turkish historian and professor İlber Ortaylı, Azernews reports.
During the meeting, Ombudsman Sabina Aliyeva welcomed the guest and expressed her pleasure at the opportunity to meet. She praised Professor Ortaylı for his valuable contributions to the field of history and his international reputation, noting that his works are cherished by Turkic peoples, including Azerbaijani readers, and wished him continued success in his endeavors.
The Ombudsman spoke about the liberation of Azerbaijani territories as a result of the victory achieved during the Second Garabagh War. She mentioned that Victory Day would soon be celebrated, emphasizing that this victory marked a new chapter in Azerbaijan's history and fully restored its territorial integrity and sovereignty.
The Ombudsman discussed the fact-finding missions conducted during and after the Second Garabagh War, noting that reports were prepared based on the results of these missions. These reports detailed human rights violations and hate crimes committed by Armenia during the thirty years of occupation and were sent to international organizations and the ombudsmen and national human rights institutions of foreign countries.
In turn, Professor İlber Ortaylı expressed his gratitude to Ombudsman Sabina Aliyeva for the sincere meeting. He spoke about the historical ties between the two brotherly countries and emphasized the significant importance of Azerbaijan's victory in the Second Garabagh War.
During the meeting, İlber Ortaylı was awarded the "20th Anniversary of the Ombudsman Institution of the Republic of Azerbaijan (2002-2022)" jubilee medal by Ombudsman Sabina Aliyeva.
