Azerbaijan's First Vice-President and the President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Mehriban Aliyeva, visited the Thalassemia Center accompanied by family members.
Azernews reports that Minister of Health Teymur Musayev briefed the First Vice-President and her family on the facilities available at the center.
Mehriban Aliyeva toured the transplant department, the newly opened intensive care unit, and the inpatient department for adults, interacting with children receiving treatment and medical staff to inquire about their progress.
The First Vice-President was informed that the Thalassemia Center plays a vital role in treating those affected by the disease and provides significant moral support to patients and their families.
Mehriban Aliyeva emphasized that the Heydar Aliyev Foundation has consistently prioritized the center’s activities and healthcare in general.
Established in 2009, the Thalassemia Center aims to create a specialized medical institution and blood bank in Azerbaijan, develop voluntary donor services to ensure safe and quality blood for children suffering from thalassemia, raise public awareness to prevent the disease's spread, and expand cooperation with various countries in combating thalassemia.
