Lithuania presents candidate for position of ambassador to Azerbaijan
The Lithuanian government has proposed Kestutis Vaskelevicius as the new ambassador to Azerbaijan, Azernews reports.
K. Vaskelevicius currently works as the head of the International Relations and European Union Group at the Government Office and has previously held various diplomatic positions in other Lithuanian embassies.
During the meeting, the diplomat stated that as an ambassador, he will work towards closer relations between the European Union and Azerbaijan.
According to him, the aim will also be to assist in the development of bilateral relations, economic, cultural, and academic cooperation.
K. Vaskelevicius cited COP29, which will be held in Baku this November, as a specific task.
If the President of Lithuania approves his candidacy, the diplomat will start his new position in August.
