Brotherly Azerbaijan will always have a special place in our hearts, Azernews reports citing the President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), Ersin Tatar, as he said during a meeting in Nicosia with a group of family members of the martyrs of the Second Garabagh War.

The leader of the Turkish Cypriots expressed his pleasure in meeting with the relatives of Azerbaijan's heroes. According to him, relations between the TRNC and Azerbaijan have reached an important level.

"These achievements have been made possible with the support of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan," the politician said

Ersin Tatar highlighted the growing importance of solidarity and unity among Turkish states, as well as the development of trade and political relations, against the backdrop of globalisation processes. He stressed: "I particularly consider the establishment of connections among the youth of Turkish states to be very important. The young generation of our countries should get to know each other better and strengthen their ties."

The TRNC President mentioned that during the 44-day Patriotic War, Turkish Cypriots prayed for their Azerbaijani brothers. Addressing the guests from Azerbaijan, Ersin Tatar said: "The loss of people who are dear to us deeply saddened the Turkish Cypriots, but the victory in the Garabagh War became a bright page in history. Remember that martyrs who gave their lives for their homeland do not die. We will not forget, and we will not let the martyrs be forgotten. They sacrificed their lives to reclaim their native lands. This Victory has further strengthened Azerbaijan."

He recalled that there are also many martyrs in Cyprus. "Our people do not forget the martyrs. They live in our hearts forever," said Ersin Tatar.

Sevinc Orucova, the head of the "Victory" Public Union for Supporting the Families of Azerbaijani Martyrs, in turn, noted the importance of developing relations between the public structures of Azerbaijan and the TRNC.

The visit of the members of the martyr families to Nicosia will continue until July 28.
