Surveillance cameras to be installed across Baku
Surveillance cameras will from now onward operate without interruptions in the public places of Baku.
According to a Cabinet of Ministers decision, surveillance devices of the Interior Ministry will be installed in crowded places of the Azerbaijani capital. Such places include parks, streets, shrines, railway stations, educational institutions and banks.
Surveillance systems will also be used for oversight of transport hubs, areas around the buildings of executive and legislative authorities, courts, close to strategically important state facilities, as well as near diplomatic missions’ compounds and the offices of international organizations.
The Interior Ministry spokesman, Ehsan Zahidov, said the measure aims to ensure public safety.
Such video surveillance is used in public places in most developed countries and is considered appropriate from the viewpoint of citizens’ safety.*
