With the support of the Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Jabrayil, Gubadli and Zangilan districts of the East Zangazur Economic Region, the Youth Foundation and the Union of Volunteer Organisations of Azerbaijan, as well as the organisation of the "Great Return" Youth Organisation, the Zangilan Volunteers group of the Volunteers of Return Programme started activities in this territory for the first time, Azernews reports.

During the visit of Zangilan volunteers to Aghali village, Vahid Hajiyev, special representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Jabrayil, Gubadli and Zangilan districts, which are part of the East Zangazur economic region, met with the young volunteers, wished them success in their significant activities for the development of society and noted that this programme will be useful for them as well.

"Volunteer activities are very important for the sustainable development of our country. As your activities will be carried out in the liberated Zangilan, you will in turn contribute positively to the construction works led by our Head of State as well as to the "Great Return" process. This programme will also help your self-development through new experiences, worldview, socialisation, a successful career path, a more empathetic approach to events around you, teamwork and communication skills," said Vahid Hajiyev.

Then the volunteers familiarised themselves with the territory of Aghali village, which was rebuilt within the Smart Village project and is a symbol of the "Great Return", the conditions created here for resettled families, and received detailed information about the work done and planned. Also during the trip, the volunteers met with the citizens who resettled here and exchanged opinions and impressions. At the meeting, it was noted that it is planned to regularly organise similar trips of Zangilan volunteers to the village, as well as to hold various interesting events for children, teenagers and young people living in Aghali together with the special representation office.

Within the framework of the programme, the volunteers will take part in various kinds of volunteer activities in the territory of Zangilan district, including organization of regular events, work with local and foreign guests coming here, assistance in preparation for the return of former IDPs, restoration and reconstruction, settlement process, as well as other activities of the Special Representation of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Jabrayil, Gubadli and Zangilan districts.

It should be noted that the main objective of the programme, implemented in accordance with President Ilham Aliyev's call for wider involvement of the young generation, particularly youth with roots in these lands, in works carried out in the territories liberated from occupation, is to support volunteer activities in the region. At the same time, the programme aims to encourage the participation of young people of East Zangazur in reconstruction and rehabilitation works carried out in their native lands, promote the historical and cultural heritage of the region, as well as assist in the implementation of the process of youth return to the liberated territories.
