Baku hosts Coordinating Bureau meeting of Non-Aligned Movement
The meeting is attended by representatives of about 70 countries of the Non-Aligned Movement, including the presidents of Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Iraq, Libya and Bosnia and Herzegovina, Azernews reports.
A total of 120 participating states, 18 observers and 10 international organizations, including Azerbaijan, have played an important role in the history of the Non-Aligned Movement.
Vice-presidents of Cuba, Gabon and Tanzania, heads of
governments of Algeria and Kenya and high-ranking representatives
of other states also arrived in Baku.
The summit will also include heads of international organizations,
including President of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly
Chabo Quereshi, Secretary General of the UN World Tourism
Organization Zurab Pololikashvili, Director General of the
International Organization for Migration Antonio Vitorino, Director
General of the UN Office in Geneva Tatyana Valovaya, Secretary
General of the Economic Cooperation Organization Khusrav Noziri and
others.
It will last until July 6.
Recall that, Azerbaijan has been chairing the NAM since 2019. Despite the fact that the period of the country's chairmanship in the organization fell at the height of the pandemic, Baku successfully fulfilled its presidential mission and received the right to lead the movement for another one year.
