The closing ceremony of the "Sea Cup" competition held in the territorial waters of Azerbaijan within the "International Army Games - 2020" has taken place, the Defense Ministry said on September 4.

Azerbaijani and Russian sailors won the competition with equal points on September 3.

The closing ceremony was attended by Azerbaijani Deputy Defense Minister Lieutenant General Karim Valiyev, Acting Deputy Defense Minister for Logistics Nizam Osmanov, Russian First Deputy Defense Minister, Army General Ruslan Tsalikov and other guests.

The winning teams were awarded with the trophy, medals and valuable gifts.

Russian Deputy Defense Minister thanked the leadership of Azerbaijan for the high-level organization and hospitality of the "Sea Cup" competition.

Making a closing speech at the event, the Azerbaijani Deputy Defense Minister said the competition served to strengthen mutual relations and cooperation, create an atmosphere of friendship between the servicemen and conveyed the congratulations of the Minister of Defense, Colonel-General Zakir Hasanov.

The "Sea Cup" international contest was held as part of the International Army Games - 2020 in the territorial waters of Azerbaijan in the Caspian Sea from 25 August to 4 September..

Azerbaijani Defence Minister Zakir Hasanov and the Russian Defence Minister Sergey Shoigu inaugurated the opening of the Sea Cup competition at the Buta Naval base of Azerbaijan’s Naval Forces on August 25.

The Caspian Flotilla of the Russian Navy arrived in Baku on August 17 to participate in the “International Army Games-2020” among the Russian Caspian Flotilla arriving in Azerbaijan, were small-size gunnery ships “Makhachkala” and “Astrakhan”, and “SB-738” rescue tugboat.

Iran and Kazakhstan did not participate in the “Sea Cup” contest this year due to COVID-19, which was discussed at the video conference with the participants of the contest held in the headquarters of the Azerbaijani Naval Forces on August 13.
