Sarkisian’s visit to occupied Azeri land ‘could be last one’
Azerbaijani Defense
Minister Safar Abiyev has condemned Armenian President Serzh
Sarkisian’s recent visit to the occupied territories of
Azerbaijan.
Abiyev told reporters that Sarkisian has no right to visit those lands, adding that "this could have been his last visit."
Touching on the Azerbaijani army’s combat readiness, the minister said the country’s armed forces are ready to liberate the Armenia-occupied territories.
Azerbaijan fought a lengthy war with Armenia that ended with the signing of a cease-fire in 1994, but the neighboring South Caucasus republic continues to occupy Upper Garabagh and seven adjacent Azerbaijani districts in defiance of international law.
Regarding the military exercises staged by the Armenian military in the past few days, Abiyev said: "We know everything well. The enemy can’t become more active."
The minister also said a Turkish military delegation is due to visit Azerbaijan on November 2.*
