Stratfor predicts US, Russian response if Garabagh war resumes
Both Russia and the United States will call on
Armenia and Azerbaijan to restore peace if hostilities between the
two countries erupt anew, but, in reality, both superpowers will
proceed as each deems necessary, an expert of the influential US
analytical center Stratfor says.
Marko Papic, the center`s analyst on Eurasia, claimed in an interview with Azerbaijan`s Russian-language news website, 1news.az, that, if military action resumed, Moscow would actually attempt to benefit from it. As for Washington, it would face a tough choice in deciding whose side it is on, and, therefore, would fail to considerably influence a solution to the problem.
As an example, the analyst cited the brief war fought between Russia and Georgia in 2008.
