Foreign citizens detained for illegal hunting

Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan detained two men for illegal hunting in the territory called Kalmas, in Salyan region.
During the proceedings it was revealed that they are citizens of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Mohammed Ali Al-Murry and Faezal Shah.
Each of the guilty persons was administratively fined in the amount of 2,000 manats ($1,170).
Earlier, it was reported that employees of the regional department of ecology and natural resources of the Ministry detained three citizens of Saudi Arabia in the territory of Uzunbala village of Neftchala region, trying to engage in illegal hunting.
Three hunting rifles and 50 cartridges were seized. Each of the guilty under an administrative order was fined in the amount of 2,000 manats ($1,170).
Moreover, during the raids conducted over the past three months, 35 people engaged in illegal hunting in Azerbaijan were detained.
The Ministry reported that 29 hunting rifles, cartridges and various hunting gear were confiscated.
In respect of these persons, protocols were drawn up and a fine of 40,441 manats ($23,788) was imposed.
The Ministry of Ecology conducts regular raids to study the situation with observance of the requirements of the laws “On hunting” and “On fauna”.
In May the Ministry reported that a new draft decision on increasing the amount of fines against individuals who conduct illegal hunting has been prepared in the country.
