Turkmenistan ready for delivering energy resources through Caspian region
By Trend
Turkmenistan is ready to use the East-West internal gas pipeline to supply its energy resources to international markets through the Caspian region, the Turkmen Dovlet Habarlary state news agency reported.
After the commissioning of the East-West gas pipeline in December 2015, great prospects were opened for further expansion of multilateral mutually beneficial partnership in the energy sector, says the report.
Construction of various infrastructure facilities along the East-West gas pipeline, which connects all gas mains of the country to a single system, will be continued.
Negotiations on delivering the Turkmen gas to Europe have been held since 2011. The Southern Gas Corridor, including the Trans-Caspian project, remains as a priority for the European Union.
The project of laying a 300-kilometer gas pipeline along the bottom of the Caspian Sea to the shores of Azerbaijan, as previously noted by the interested parties, is an optimal way for the delivery of Turkmen resources to the European market. From Azerbaijan, Turkmen gas can reach Turkey, which borders European countries.
Turkmenistan is one of key players in the Caspian energy market and ranks fourth in the world in terms of its gas reserves. Currently, the country delivers gas to China and Iran.
