Customs Committee works in emergency mode
By Rashid Shirinov
Azerbaijan's State Customs Committee (SCC) for several days has been working in emergency mode to prevent import of smuggled goods into the country, said Aydin Aliyev, Committee Chairman.
“The customs authorities of Azerbaijan vigilantly work to prevent import of smuggled goods into the country,” he told APA.
“On the basis of the received information, we have also implemented inspection of several sites and confiscated the goods that were brought and released into circulation through smuggling,” Aliyev added.
The State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan created in 1992 is a governmental agency in charge of customs clearance for imports and exports, and regulation of all customs activities within Azerbaijan.
Establishment of the Committee helped accelerate the commodity turnover in the country and eased the import-export procedures.
The Azerbaijani customs legislation consists of the Constitution of Azerbaijan, this Code, Law of Azerbaijan on Customs Tariff and other normative legal act and international agreements adopted in accordance with them, of which Azerbaijan is the participant.
