FAYA: Azerbaijan does great job for News Agencies World Congress [PHOTO]

The 5th News Agencies World Congress, which is being held in Baku, plays a big role in the development of news agencies, Farid Ayar, secretary general of the Federation of Arab News Agencies (FANA), told Trend on November 16.
Ayar said that Azerbaijan has done a great job for the organization of this event.
Holding this congress requires a lot of efforts, he noted.
“Evaluating such a high level of organization, we once again thank the Azerbaijani side for the great contribution, and we believe that the Congress under the chairmanship of Azerbaijan will achieve great success in its work,” added the secretary general.
Touching upon the challenges currently facing news agencies, Ayar said that the mass media today should provide the public with more objective and accurate information.
Azerbaijan hosts the 5th News Agencies World Congress, the 16th General Assembly of the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA) and the 22nd session of the Council of CIS Heads of News Agencies November 16.
Azerbaijan will be represented by Trend and Azertag news agencies.
Co-organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and Azerbaijan’s state new agency AZERTAC, these events bring together heads and representatives of about 100 news agencies, which shape the global information policy, international media experts, UN - UNESCO official, and representatives of regional media organizations.
Speakers at the sessions include presidents of the News Agencies World Congress, OANA, EANA, FANA, managers of Associated Press, Reuters, Xinhua, Anadolu Agency, TASS, Agence France-Press, Press Association, EFE, Yonhap, Kyodo, TT, SPA, BTA, AAP, IRNA, DPA, Notimex, ATPE and other leading news agencies, Los Angeles Times newspaper, Al Arabiya television channel, and experts from Tripod Advisors, News Corp, PwC, Axel Springer, Stibo Accelerator media companies.
Initiated by the Russian TASS news agency, the 1st News Agencies World Congress was held in Moscow on Sept. 24-25, 2004.
