“Azerbaijan attaches great importance to international cooperation in combating corruption,” said Deputy Prosecutor General, head of the Central Anti-Corruption Department under the Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev at the 21st Annual Conference & General Meeting of the International Association of Prosecutors in Dublin, Ireland, Azertac reported.

Kamran Aliyev, who is a member of the Executive Committee of the Association, made a presentation entitled “Combating corruption and international cooperation”. He highlighted “great” successes and achievements in all spheres in Azerbaijan, which, he said, was possible thanks to President Ilham Aliyev`s policy. “Fight against corruption, which is a key priority for President Ilham Aliyev, has improved at a greater pace in Azerbaijan in the last years.”

Aliyev provided an insight into organizational and institutional reforms implemented in the country with the aim of increasing the effectiveness of anti-corruption measures.

He also said Azerbaijan commended the activity of the International Association of Prosecutors, and drew the audience`s attention to what had been done to develop cooperation between the country and the organization over the last year.

The event also featured an annual conference entitled “Role of prosecutors and investigators in criminal prosecution” attended by 550 delegates, including prosecutors, chiefs of law-enforcement agencies from 92 countries and high-level officials from international organizations.

In recognition of the contributions of Azerbaijan’s law enforcement agencies and prosecutor office to the activity of the organization Aliyev was re-elected as a member of the Executive Committee for another three year term.

The next Annual Conference of the International Association of Prosecutors will be held in the Chinese capital of Beijing in September, 2017.
