ISESCO chief: Occupation of Azerbaijan`s lands by Armenia is illegal
“The occupation of Azerbaijan`s lands by the Armenian armed forces is illegal. The issue of Nagorno-Karabakh is the right of Azerbaijan to restore its territorial integrity,” Director General of the Islamic Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) Abdulaziz Othman Altwaijri told journalists as he attended the 5th Baku International Humanitarian Forum. “The Armenian occupation is illegal. It is illegal by the UN Security Council resolutions, by the different international organizations and communities that have condemned this occupation. I don’t see any reason for hesitation from the super powers to implement the resolutions and to compel the Armenian armed forces to withdraw from Azerbaijan`s lands.”
Othman Altwaijri hailed the organization of the 5th Baku International Humanitarian Forum: “This forum has accomplished many things and it is a success now. Many people attended the Forum from different parts of the world with different levels of responsibility. As I said in my speech world needs changes in the system of maintaining peace and security in the world. Especially through the Security Council of the UN and world needs all the efforts to restore the rights of the nations and to stop aggression, to stop wars and xenophobia. It is a must that world has to listen to free thinkers caring for the security and peace of human rights on this planet”.
The ISESCO chief also praised Azerbaijan’s tolerance: “I think Azerbaijan is a model that has to be followed in the world. A country that is open, modern, prosperous with the leadership that knows what is important for its people and for the world. I think we have to support Azerbaijan in this endeavour, an initiative that helps world peace and security. I affirmed this in my speech on behalf of ISESCO which is the organization within the OIC and which has 52 member states, and has many relations with the international community.” He thanked “the people and the leader of Azerbaijan for the warm welcome and for hospitality”. “And I know, I am sure the world will listen to the words that come from Baku. Baku now is the centre of tolerance, peace, dialogue, co-existence among nations from different cultures, civilizations and religions.”
