European Film Festival to run for sixth time

The European Film Festival, after having become a solid
tradition in the country, will host its sixth year in Baku between
October 29 and November 6.
Organized by Park Cinema and supported by the EU delegation in
Azerbaijan, the nine-day event will feature some 19 films from
different parts of Europe and Azerbaijan.
Park Cinema Network Director Namig Guliyev noted that interest in the festival has arisen every year.
“We are very pleased that every year we have been able to involve more countries in this event. The sixth year of the festival will be celebrated by demonstration of very different film genres. The shooting staff will also be among the guests,” he said.
The films – representing various genres like comedy, drama, documentary, animation – will make the Festival attractive to all film lovers. The featured films were produced in Germany, Finland, Czech Republic, UK, Austria, Croatia, Belgium, Romania, Italy, Estonia, France, Spain, Latvia, Hungary, Bulgaria and Azerbaijan will be demonstrated during the event.
The Belgian film “Turquaze” will commence the festival.
Croatia will be represented by the film “Sonja and the Bull,” produced by Vorkapic Vlatka, while co-Producer Kiur Aarma, will represent Estonia’s “Those Who Dare” at the festival. Latvian camera operator Verhoustinskis Andrejs will represent his country with “Then it’s Hi! Hi! Hee!”
Azerbaijan will present the national film “The Murderer” by Kamran Shahmardan, based on the play by renowned writer and playwright Elchin Efendiyev.
The festival will take place in the Park Cinema network’s three cinemas: Park Bulvar, located at the 1 Neftchilar Avenue; Metro Park at 44 Tarbriz street; and Flame Towers at 1A Mehdi Huseyn street.
Informational support is being provided by Trend, Day.az, and Milli.az.
The European Film Festival has been organized by the EU delegation to Azerbaijan since 2010 and serves to further build and strengthen the cultural links between the countries of the European Union and Azerbaijan, contributing to a better mutual understanding.
