Mingachevir to host documentary films festival

CAUCADOC documentary film festival will be held in Mingachevir on
November 19 - 21, the local organizer of the festival, the head of
the "Mingacehvir Parents Association" Public Union Farman Nabiyev
reported.
The opening of the festival will be held in the assembly hall of
Mingechaur Polytechnic Institute.
According to Nabiyev, it is the second film festival in 2013
organized by this group.
The new festival will feature the films of US, Swiss, Dutch,
Romanian, Austrian, German, Georgian, Turkish, Azerbaijani
cinematographers. Following the viewing of the films, discussion
between the participation of experts and guests will be held.
The festival series also are scheduled to be held in Balakan,
Masalli regions and capital Baku.
CAUCADOC is a project run by Czech NGO People in Need (PIN) and
partner organizations from the South Caucasus: Sakdoc Film and
Internews Media Support NGO. The project supports documentary
filmmaking in the South Caucasus, making use of PIN´s experience
organizing One World, the world´s largest human rights documentary
film festival.
The project also uses documentaries as a tool for education and to
raise public awareness in the South Caucasus.
CAUCADOC includes residential workshops dedicated to the development of creative documentary films from the South Caucasus, a series of master classes and lectures at partnering festivals Golden Apricot IFF, Batumi Art House FF and Tbilisi IFF, and a series of debates focusing on key issues related to audiovisual industry in the region. CAUCADOC also supports local initiatives in organizing screenings and follow up debates throughout the region, as well as the use of documentary films at schools.
CAUCADOC is funded by the European Union through the Eastern Partnership Culture Programme, and by Czech Development Agency. CAUCADOC runs in Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia in between March 2012 and February 2014.
The videotheque consisting of the festival films is open not only for the festival organizers, but also for others intending to screen a documentary in their communities. Whoever wishes to screen a documentary film for non-commercial purposes can contact CAUCADOC and borrow a film for free.
