Painter Tahir Salahov's exhibition to open in Baku

Works by famous Azerbaijani artist Tahir Salahov will be presented at his personal exhibition in the Heydar Aliyev Center in Baku on October 1.
The exhibition of the Azerbaijani People's Artist, called "At the turn of the century", will feature paintings created in different years, as well as his works using the carpet technique, the center's website said.
The exhibited works include portraits of the national leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev, Gara Garayev, Dmitri Shostakovich and Mstislav Rostropovich, the works "Aidan", "Morning. Absheron", "Koroglu", the Absheron triptych "Atashgah", "Caspian Sea today", and "Maiden Tower, as well as other famous creations of the painter.
The exhibition will run until November 6.
Earlier, from June to September, the Heydar Aliyev Center, which was opened in the Azerbaijani capital on May 10, 2012, hosted an exhibition of famous American artist Andy Warhol.
Also, Tahir Salahov's works were on display at the Moscow Museum of Modern Art (MMOMA) from August 20 to September 22.
In June, Moscow's Central House of Artists showcased works by Tahir Salahov as part of the international art festival "Traditions and Modernity", which featured the creations of over 300 artists from Azerbaijan, Russia, the USA, Austria, Germany, and the Netherlands.
Tahir Salahov, one of the most prominent representatives of the Azerbaijani art, is the vice-president and honorary president of the International Association of Plastic Arts of UNESCO, the vice-president of the Russian Academy of Arts, People's Artist of the USSR, Azerbaijan and Russia, and is the winner of a number of high awards, including the State Prize of the USSR and Azerbaijan.
