Another "From waste to art" exhibition to be held outside Baku
By Nigar Orujova
The second international exhibition "From waste to art" is
presented by Tamiz Shahar company jointly with the Heydar Aliyev
Foundation, Icherisheher state historical and architectural
preserve, and Maiden Tower Gallery from June 16 to June 20 in the
Gala State History-Ethnogra
Art is the best way to attract people's attention to a particular issue, the exhibition initiators believe.
Dozens of artists from around the world will exhibit their artworks, prompting society to think before turning unnecessary things into waste.
Creating art works from disused or obsolete items is a protest against the established clichés and rules. The representatives of this trend will enthuse visitors, "re-renewing" unnecessary things in the original artworks.
Along with Azerbaijani artists, the exhibition will bring together eminent representatives of this art movement from France, Italy, Britain, America, Japan, Benin, Albania, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Israel, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkey and Russia.
Unlike the first exhibition held in Gala settlement outside Baku in June 2012, the format of this event will allow visitors to be acquainted personally with the process of creating the exhibits. 24 participants working directly in the hall in front of the audience will create their works of art.
Holding the exhibition in the Gala preserve, which has many art samples, is not accidental. It focuses public attention on the ability to turn useless things into samples of art.
The international exhibition is also supporting the population to implement a pilot project on separation, transportation and disposal of waste in the Gala settlement.
The traditional annual exhibition is being organized as part of the project to create a modern system of solid waste management in the village of Gala, initiated and supported by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.
Anyone who wants to visit the exhibition may use buses which will go to the Preserve from Icherisheher (Old City) at 12.00 and 15.00 on June 17-19.
Last year, artists from Germany, the USA, Estonia, Romania, Lithuania, Georgia, Belarus, and Azerbaijan demonstrated their handworks made from paper, newspapers, tires, car glasses, metal and other waste materials.
Tamiz Shahar company aims to improve the environmental situation of the capital city through disposal of solid household waste in accordance with high standards.
