A dance festival is to be held at the Heydar Aliyev Palace in Baku on June 8. The winners of world championships, as well as Caucasus and Azerbaijan competitions, and the best dance teams from Baku will participate at the "Yeni nefes" ("New breath") festival, organized by the Modern and Social Dance Association with the support of the Azerbaijan Youth Union.

President of the Modern and Social Dance Association Aziz Azizov said that the festival will be an overview of the work done this year.

"2013 was very successful for us, and we raised Azerbaijan to the 6th place in the rating of world social dances. Our friendly team, which comprises professional dancers and a lot of debutants, has worked hard and improved itself during the year to properly represent Azerbaijan on the world stage," Azizov said.

He said that the dancers have prepared an amazing and colorful show for the audience.

"Our main goal is to show everybody how the modern dancing art develops in Azerbaijan. We invite all the lovers of dancing art to our concert," he said.

Azizov went on to say that the best dancers attend every championship organized by the Association.

"This program will include only the best couples from all championships of this year. I expect an incredible outbreak of positive energy and hope everyone will enjoy our performance," he said.

The concert program will include show-ballet, dance-show, baby-show, salsa, bachata, Latin show, couple show, modern, hip-hop, b-boy and folk dancing.

Also, Baku will host dance championships in September and October, and the Cup of Baku and Azerbaijan will be held in November.

The traditional "Azeri Dance Star" contest is due in December.
