Rome hosts Azerbaijani Cultural Days

La Sapienza University of Rome, which is one of the greatest and ancient universities in Europe, hosted Azerbaijani Cultural Days on April 22.

The Azerbaijani Students and Alumni International Forum (ASAIF) told AzerTac that the event was organized by the Azerbaijani-Italian Youth Association and the Tevere Institute and attended by Turkish ambassador to Vatican Kenan Gursoy and his spouse Belkis Gursoy as well as professors and students.

Adressing the event, rector of the La Sapienza University of Rome Antonello Biagini spoke about the significance of the Azerbaijani-Italian relations.

Speaking at the event professor Fabio Grassi noted that Azerbaijan is a country with an ancient history and culture. He said the territory where Azerbaijanis live occupies wider area than the current territory.

The authors of the "La Repubblica democratica dell'Azerbaijan (1918-1920) i documenti militari italiani" book Daniel Pommier and Andrea Carteny informed the participants of the event on the rich culture of Azerbaijan.

Member of the Azerbaijani-Italian Youth Association and the representative of the ASAIF in Italy Leyla Abishova spoke about the forum of the Azerbaijani-Italian Youth Association and the ASAIF held in Rome in March.

At the end of the event rector of the Tevere Institute Dott. Aydin underlined the importance of the intercultural dialogue and urged everyone to establish a bridge among the cultures and societies.
