R&B and pop diva Braxton to thrill Azerbaijani fans in December
By Seymur Aliyev
Azerbaijani music lovers are anxiously awaiting world famous American singer Toni Braxton's magnificent performances in Baku. The R&B and pop singer intends to give concerts on December 17 and 18 that will long be remembered by thrilled fans, being organized at the Heydar Aliyev Palace under the Heydar Aliyev Foundation's project to support children with the autism syndrome.
The 90-minute concerts of Braxton will feature new singles as well as old hits, which have made people in countries around the globe fall in love with her melodic voice.
A charming lady with a velvety voice, a representative of the "old school", performer of incendiary dance tunes and a wonderful actress, Braxton is remembered by the public with lyric love ballads, which brought her worldwide fame. Unusual Toni vocals, a tender contralto and sincerity can touch even an unsensitive person. She has gained six Grammy awards and is the first woman singer who signed a deal with LaFace Records.
Braxton was born in a little Maryland town of Severn, on October 7, 1967 to a clerical family. Encouraged by their mother, an operatically trained vocalist, Braxton and her four sisters began singing in church. She became the first female artist signed to LaFace in 1991, and the following year she was introduced to the listening public with a high-profile appearance on the soundtrack of Eddie Murphy's Boomerang. The single, "You're Makin' Me High," became her biggest pop hit to date; however, its success was soon eclipsed by the follow-up single, the Diane Warren-penned ballad "Un-break My Heart."
She is one of the few singers who could stay at the peak of fame for all these years, without losing the fans who still enjoy her marvelous singing.
