First-ever rock radio station opens in Azerbaijan

BAKU – A first-ever rock radio station, RockOut FM, has been set up in Azerbaijan to promote rock music that is underdeveloped in the country, its founders said.
"Rock has not developed much in Azerbaijan…and ties between listeners and rock bands and between professional and amateur rock musicians are weak," Ziya Zamanly and Orkhan Abdulla said while commenting on the radio station’s two-week-long activity. "We believe the establishment of the rock radio and drawing rock bands there was a great chance for listeners and amateur musicians."
Currently, RockOut FM airs three programs – "On the Caspian coast", "Evening train" and "10-line".
"On the Caspian coast" features performances by local rock singers and discussions on rock culture in Azerbaijan.
