Azerbaijan Culture Minister Adil Karimli has received the Hungarian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Tamas József Torma, Azernews reports citing the ministry.
Welcoming the ambassador, the minister noted that the relations between Azerbaijan and Hungary are at a high level. He said that the friendly relations between President Ilham Aliyev and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán based on mutual trust are of exceptional importance in the development of relations between the two countries, including cultural cooperation.
The minister underlined that Azerbaijani-Hungarian cultural relations have broad prospects, and noted that taking new steps in this area would be beneficial.
The Ambassador Tamas József Torma noted that his country attaches special importance to cultural relations with Azerbaijan. It was noted that Hungary has rich traditions in the field of cinematography and currently has modern film studios operating.
The diplomat also stressed the importance of expanding relations in the library field, expressing his satisfaction with the establishment of the “Hungarian Literature Corner” at the National Library of Azerbaijan in October last year. Adil Karimli voiced his proposal on the mutual teaching of Azerbaijani and Hungarian languages in higher education institutions of the two countries.
The meeting also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
Azerbaijani-Hungarian ties
Founded on the centuries-old common historical roots, the Azerbaijani-Hungarian ties have made rapid strides towards progress and have been heralded as exemplary.
Since the opening of the embassies, the Azerbaijani-Hungarian relations have progressed and been boosted by mutually beneficial steps.

In 2019, the House of Azerbaijan opened in the Hungarian capital of Budapest through the support of Azerbaijan's State Committee on Diaspora Affairs.
The Hungarian government highly appreciated the role of the Azerbaijani public and cultural figures in strengthening the Hungarian-Azerbaijani cultural ties.
In 2020, the photographer was awarded the Hungarian Bronze Cross of Merit for strengthening the Hungarian-Azerbaijani cultural ties.
The resolution on the decoration was signed by Hungarian President Janos Ader. The principal conductor of the Azerbaijan State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater was also awarded the Golden Cross of the Hungarian Order of Merit for special services in the field of culture and contribution to Baku-Budapest ties.
Hungary takes a special place in the life of Ayyub Guliyev. Over the past years, the national conductor has successfully cooperated with multiple Hungarian cultural figures. Many Hungarian musicians are frequent guests in Baku.
