International Mugham Center has hosted a concert dedicated to International Day of Persons with Disabilities, Azernews reports.

The concert program "The Secret of Inclusiveness" was co-organized by the International Mugham Center in partnership with the Inclusive Organization Company and the support of the cultural and educational NGO "Sara Xatun", NGO "Muğam" and the charity project "Ümidlə Gəl".

The concert program featured world-famous mugham performer, People's Artist Alim Gasimov, soloists of the International Mugham Center and musicians with disabilities.

The Director of the International Mugham Center, Honored Artist Sahib Pashazade was awarded an honorary diploma.

International Day of Persons with Disabilities (December 3) is an international observance promoted by the United Nations since 1992.

The observance of the Day aims to promote an understanding of disability issues and mobilize support for the dignity, rights and well-being of persons with disabilities. It also seeks to increase awareness of gains to be derived from the integration of persons with disabilities in every aspect of political, social, economic and cultural life. It was originally called "International Day of Disabled Persons" until 2007. Each year the day focuses on a different issue.

This year International Day of Persons with Disabilities is themed "Amplifying the leadership of persons with disabilities for an inclusive and sustainable future".

The United Nations reports that the observance of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities 2024 (IDPD 2024) takes place against the backdrop of pivotal global developments, from the Summit of the Future to the upcoming Second World Summit for Social Development.

These key global Summits will complement one another in providing a continuous roadmap toward disability-inclusive and sustainable peace and development. By emphasising this complementarity, the theme chosen for the observance in 2024 aims to underscore the importance of leveraging the leadership of persons with disabilities to ensure disability-inclusive and sustainable peace and development for all.
