Azerbaijan presents "Culture for Climate" initiative [PHOTOS]
The "Culture for Climate" (C4C) initiative, launched by Azerbaijan, has been presented as part of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) in Baku, Azernews reports.
Representatives of international organizations, cultural institutions, and local and foreign experts attended the event.
Speaking at the event, Azerbaijan Deputy Culture Minister Farid Jafarov provided information about the C4C initiative and emphasized that culture has the power to shape a positive climate agenda.
"Azerbaijan is pleased to present the “Culture for Climate” initiative at COP29. Currently, this initiative is widely promoted internationally and many countries are interested in supporting it. C4C seeks to turn culture into an effective force for positive climate action, emphasizing how traditions, art, and heritage can develop sustainable practices and values," the Deputy Culture Minister said.
Calling on young people to take an active role in the C4C initiative, Farid Jafarov said that we have the opportunity to use the potential of culture to promote new values that protect our planet in the face of the climate crisis.
Other speeches also emphasized the importance of the C4C initiative, drew attention to its focus on a specific goal, and expressed support for this initiative.
Martin Newman, founder of the Newman Partnership organization and well-known trainer, provided information about the goals of the “Culture for Climate” initiative.
Then a video clip containing information on the topic was shown.
At the end, discussions were held on the topic, and questions from the event participants were answered.
