Heydar Aliyev Center holds concert program "Awakening" [PHOTOS]
Azerbaijan is hosting the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), Azernews reports.
As part of this globally significant event, the Culture Ministry is organizing concerts, exhibitions, and presentations to effectively engage guests.
On November 13, a concert program titled "Awakening" was presented at the Heydar Aliyev Center.
The concert featured soloists from the Azerbaijan State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater and was attended by heads of state and government from dozens of countries, officials, and climate experts who came to Baku for COP29.
It is noted that "Awakening" is a special ritual that restores the unity of humans with nature and encourages individuals to pay close attention to the essential elements necessary for life. At this modern stage, vital elements such as air, water, earth, and fire have become themes that inspire new thoughts. Therefore, this spectacular performance was conceived as an awakening that connects water to life, air to the power of reason, earth to conscious existence, and fire to the light of civilization. Lost on the winding paths of progress, humanity draws wisdom from the teachings of priests that have survived to our time, illustrating that each element contains a work of art related to nature. The sacred male and female dialectic formed in the dynamics of cosmic relationships further creates the fabric of humanity through collective efforts for the common good.
The carpet, as an intertwining of countless knots, embodies collective labor towards a common goal. Such is the concept of the authors of the composition's plot.
A pure, immaculate maiden in the image of Maiden Tower, who has become a prisoner of human limitations, while inspiring with her beauty, purity, and fragility, reminds us of the mission to "be human." Indeed, to be human is to acknowledge the fragility we possess, yet this does not mean we should not be on the stage of life. Let us not forget that life itself is akin to beauty. If it is not cared for, if it is not given due attention, it ceases to exist. Truly, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Therefore, awakening is a mystery bestowed upon humanity to give everything new breath, a harbinger of a new day, of new life!
The conductor of the show composition featuring local and international artists was the chief conductor and musical director of the Azerbaijan State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater, Honored Artist Ayyub Guliyev, with choir master Sevil Hajiyeva, a distinguished art worker, and director and screenwriter Francesco Bondi.
It is important to note that COP29 is also significant in promoting Azerbaijan's ancient and rich historical and cultural heritage. Throughout the session, which will last until November 22, a series of cultural events and presentations organized by the Azerbaijan Culture Ministry will take place.
Moreover, on November 15, the second meeting of culture ministers dedicated to climate activities will be held.
This meeting, organized by the ministries of culture of the United Arab Emirates, Brazil, and Azerbaijan, is expected to be attended by officials, experts, and representatives from non-governmental organizations—around 120 delegates in total. Efforts will be made during the event to achieve international consensus on high-level cultural dialogue, including the incorporation of art and cultural heritage into the agenda for climate change action.
On November 16, within the framework of COP29, there will be a session dedicated to the country's initiative "Culture for Climate" (C4C), organized by Group of Friends for Culture-based Climate Action under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the Azerbaijan Culture Ministry.
On the same day, the Azerbaijan initiative "Culture for Climate" (C4C) will be presented.
