The Ahmed Parvez Art Gallery in Karachi, Pakistan, has hosted the opening of the exhibition "Intangible Cultural Heritage of Azerbaijan," organized by the Arts Council Azerbaijan and Arts Council Pakistan as part of the World Cultural Festival Karachi 2024, Azernews reports.

The event drew numerous art enthusiasts, artists, creative professionals, and officials who were captivated by the richness and uniqueness of Azerbaijan's cultural heritage.

The exhibition features items from the project "Second Life: The Art of Revival" by the Arts Council Azerbaijan, a concept developed by Sona Guliyeva. This unique concept combines traditional crafts and contemporary art with an ecological approach, inspiring a careful attitude towards cultural artifacts and resources, while also demonstrating how modern art can preserve cultural heritage. The project is an eco-initiative aimed at transforming old carpets into art objects, preserving original patterns and adding artistic elements, emphasizing recycling and the revival of traditional carpets, creating a bridge between the past and the future, while promoting values of cultural heritage and environmentally responsible resource use.

The exhibition includes works by artists such as Eldar Babazade, Nailya Aslanova, Mariyam Kiblaeva, Roya Hasan, Naila Maharramova, Nigar Aliyeva, Suraya Mammadli, Leyla Orudjeva, Narmina Ulukhanova, Leyla Muradova, Aynura Mustafaeva, and Elshan Rzazade, as well as unique elements of Azerbaijan's cultural heritage, including kelaghai, Karabakh carpets, and paintings.

At the opening ceremony, the head of the Arts Council Pakistan, Muhammad Ahmed Shah, expressed gratitude to the head of Arts Council Azerbaijan Dadash Mammad for his support of the festival and active participation.

He underlined that the Azerbaijani delegation, which included musicians such as mugham masters Sahib Pashazade and Kamran Karimov, captivated the audience with their virtuoso performance of national music, conveying the unique Azerbaijani flavor. The importance of the participation of Azerbaijani masters in the festival's closing was highlighted, as they once again delighted the Pakistani audience with the beauty of their national culture.

Dadash Mammadov expressed admiration for the festival, which lasted for 38 continuous days. Plans were announced for a joint cultural festival in Baku, marking a new stage in strengthening cultural ties between the two countries.

The Sindh Minister of Interior and Justice, Zia ul Hasan Lanjhar, thanked Dadash Mammadov for his contribution to strengthening cultural relations between Pakistan and Azerbaijan in his speech. He emphasized the significance of preserving cultural heritage and the importance of strengthening cultural ties between the two countries, and the value of cultural initiatives for international cooperation.

The Governor of Karachi, Murtaza Wahab, formally awarded the head of the Arts Council Azerbaijan for his contribution to the development of cultural relations between the countries, emphasizing the importance of cooperation and mutual understanding through art and culture.

The World Cultural Festival Karachi 2024 gathered artists, musicians, and creative representatives from different countries on one platform. This grand festival aims to strengthen cultural ties and exchange traditions, creating a platform for experiencing the richness of global culture and art.
