Azerbaijan represented at Minsk Int'l Film Festival [PHOTOS]
The 30th Minsk International Film Festival Listapad has kicked off in Belarus under the slogan "Cinema with a Quality Mark", Azernews reports.
Azerbaijan is represented at the film festival by producer, director, and screenwriter Javid Imamverdiyev, as the chairman of the jury of the "Cinema of the Young" competition.
Together with him, the films will be evaluated by the director and producer of documentary films Domenico Lucchini (Switzerland), and film director Kirill Khaletsky (Belarus).
More than 2,200 applications from 112 countries have already been submitted to the festival. Viewers will see seven competition programs in which they will see the best films from different corners of the world.
This year, the Listapad Festival proudly announces the return of two competitions. The national competition features 23 films created by talented Belarusian directors, while the national film schools competition includes 15 student works from leading film schools.
The main feature film competition offers viewers 18 films from 24 countries. Among them is the drama by Indian director Payala Kapadia "Everything That Seems to Be Light", which was awarded the Grand Prix at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival.
A total of 12 works from 7 countries are included in the documentary film nomination. Animated masterpieces have also found their place at the festival: 50 films from 24 countries.
The "Cinema of the Young" competition, where 11 films from 17 countries offer new views on the search for oneself and family. In 2024, this direction reflects the unification of countries, revealing the potential of young talents.
For young viewers, the film festival is pleased to announce the films for children and youth audiences "Listapadzik", within the framework of which 8 films from 6 countries will be shown.
During the competition, the premiere of the animated film "Bird Sirin. Wings of Slavic Legends", was shot by Belarusfilm.
The Minsk International Film Festival Listapad has been held since 1994. The film forum was intended to unite the best films (feature and documentary) created in the post-Soviet space.
In 2003, the Minsk International Film Festival Listapad officially acquired international status.
