Azerbaijan's cultural centre, Shusha City, will host Vagif Poetry Days on July 17-19, Azernews reports.
The event is co-organised by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Culture Ministry.
Well-known figures of literature, culture, and science, as well as poets and writers from the Turkish republics visiting Azerbaijan on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the Azerbaijan Writers' Union, will participate in the Vagif Poetry Days.
As part of Vagif Poetry Days, events will be organised in various historical and cultural places in Shusha, including the Molla Panah Vagif Museum Mausoleum Complex, restored by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, as well as the House of Khurshidbanu Natavan, in front of the Shusha City Executive Authority and the Shusha Hotel and Congress Centre.
On January 14, 1982, the mausoleum of the great poet and statesman Molla Panah Vagif (1717-1797) and the House of Poetry were inaugurated in Shusha with the participation of National Leader Heydar Aliyev.
It was at that event that National Leader Heydar Aliyev supported the initiative of the Azerbaijani literary figures in this direction and gave an instruction to hold the Vagif Poetry Days.
The festival of speech and art was organised for the first time in July 1982.
The Vagif Poetry Days, which have a forty-two-year history, are being organised for the fourth time in Shusha city, which was freed from occupation.
