The Jalilabad Historical and Regional Museum has expanded the number of its exhibits.
Some 385 samples of material and cultural heritage of archaeological significance, relating to certain periods of the Azerbaijani history, were added to the Museum’s Fund, according to the Centre for Public Relations of the State Security Service (SSS).
The archaeological findings were handed to the Museum thanks to joint actions of the State Security Service, the Culture and Tourism Ministry and the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan (ANAS).
Experts from the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography of ANAS say that artifacts, including weapons made of bronze and iron, mostly relate to different periods of the Stone Age and early Middle Ages.
They note that archaeological findings, including faience utensils and their fragments, stone tools, women's jewelry, silver coins, have an important historical significance, and need to be thoroughly studied.
The historical findings will be exhibited at the Jalilabad Musem after the relevant studies.
Jalilabad is one of the ancient regions of Azerbaijan, which hides many secrets under the ground. During numerous excavations carried out in the territory of the region, scientists discovered a number of archaeological findings of great historic importance.
Last year scientists revealed an ancient temple during an expedition in Gullutepe village of the region. A lot of jewelry and ancient tools belonging to the Neolithic period were also discovered during the excavations.
The temple is the oldest temple found not only in the territory of Azerbaijan, but in the whole Caucasus.
