French accordionist to join Baku Jazz Festival

Famous French accordionist Richard Galliano will give a concert in Baku.
The event will take place on October 25 at 20:00 in the Electra Events Hall, Report.az informs.
The splendid concert dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and France will be held within the framework of the Baku International Jazz Festival.
The next edition of the Baku International Jazz Festival will take place from October 20 to 28. The festival has become a member of the Europe Jazz Network, which bring together 115 members from 34 countries.
Richard Galliano expresses himself in all musical fields, from classical to jazz. The musician was drawn to music at an early age, influenced by his father Luciano, an accordionist originally from Italy, living in Nice.
In 1975, he meets Claude Nougaro while settling down in Paris . Richard Galliano will be his accordion player and Orchestra chief till 1983. He will compose for him the music of ALLÉE DES BROUILLARDS, DES VOILIERS, VIE VIOLENCE.
Richard Galliano has recorded more than 50 albums under his own name and collaborated with an impressive number of artists.
His later collaborations include Astor Piazolla, George Mraz, Brigitte Fontaine, Al Foster, Juliette Greco, Charles Aznavour, Ron Carter, Chet Baker, Enrico Rava, Martial Solal, Miroslav Vitouš, Trilok Gurtu, Jan Garbarek, Michel Petrucciani, Michel Portal, Eddy Louiss, Biréli Lagrène, Sylvain Luc, Renaud Garcia-Fons, Ivan Paduart, Anouar Brahem, Wynton Marsalis, and Toots Thielemans.
The musician was a key member of Claude Nougaro's band for several years as a pianist and accordionist.
He received a number of awards including “Jazz Victory Award” for his albums “New York Tango” (1997) and “Blow Up” (1998), Officer of the Order of Arts and Letters (2009), “Sacem Award” for the best pedagogical method of accordion (2010), etc.
In 2014, Richard Galliano received the award of the “Best Composer of the Year 2014”
Last year, the French accordionist recorded his new album, dedicated to the work of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
