Azerbaijan to join Music Festival in Uzbekistan

Azerbaijan will be represented at the "Melodies of the East" International Music Festival to be held in Uzbekistan’s Samarkand city.
Honored artist, tar performer Sahib Pashazade will represent the country at the festival, according to Report.az
The Festival is one of the most significant events not only in Uzbekistan, but also in Central Asia. A huge open-air stage with fantastic lighting and acoustics is erected in the historical Registan Square, surrounded on every side by magnificent monuments of oriental medieval architecture.
Traditionally, the festival features workshops, round tables, conferences, as well as art and music exhibitions. Also representatives of different countries take part in the music contest.
Notably, singer Simara Imanova won the “Grand Prix” award in 1997 at the first festival. In 2001, mugham master Alim Gasimov took the first place.
The Festival lasts almost a week and finishes with a grandiose gala-concert with participation of nominees and winners of the festival.
