Azerbaijan Fashion Week has solemnly kicked off at the Stone Chronicle Museum in Baku.

The 5th edition of the event, that will run until May 27 in Baku, is co-organized by Azerbaijan’s Culture and Tourism Ministry and the Administration of State Historical-Architectural Reserve "Icherisheher".

The fashion week began with presentation of fashion collections by Jarkyn Baimakhanov, Tinatin, Eka Busuladze, K - Fabuel, Ulker Huseynova and Elnara Bekirova.

AFW promises to surprise fashionistas of the capital with new projects, rubrics, and activities, Trend Life reported. A number of afterparties are planned to be held within the project.

Every day of the Fashion Week will be marked with stunning fashion shows of Azerbaijan and designers from France, Kazakhstan, Russia, Belarus, Georgia and Ukraine.

AFW showrooms are opened in the Stone Chronicle Museum and the Old City. Guests can buy trendy fashion style clothes presented at the shows.

AFW is held twice a year in November and May. More than 60 designers from Azerbaijan, Russia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, France and Spain participated in last four seasons.

The main purpose of the Week is to popularize growing fashion industry in Azerbaijan and give an opportunity to young and talented designers to show their work to the world. It's a place that gathers local and international buyers, press and fashion critics together.

The event is open for fashion experts, including buyers of fashion retail chains and shops, representatives of glossy international as well as local publications.
