An exhibition of national musical instruments of Islamic countries has opened in Baku.
The exhibition was timed to the 4th Islamic Solidarity Games hosted by the city on May 12-22.
More than 50 musical instruments of Azerbaijan, Turkey, India, Morocco, Indonesia, Tajikistan, Egypt, Kyrgyzstan and other countries are put on display at the Museum of Musical Culture, Trend Life reported.
Museum Director Alla Bayramova, addressing the opening ceremony, said the exhibition is supported by a number of embassies of Islamic countries in the country.
“With the aim of presenting more comprehensive exhibition, we turned to the embassies of Islamic countries in Azerbaijan, and most of them provided us with musical instruments, audio and video recordings and literature. We are planning to get more musical instruments in future", she said.
“We see great interest from the audience. Therefore, the period of the exhibition will be extended,” she added.
Famous art figures, representatives of diplomatic missions and public attended the event. The Ensemble of Ancient musical instruments and Iranian group "Shalu" delighted audience with their brilliant performances.
The Baku 2017 Islamic Solidarity Games is an exciting multi-sport event uniting the Islamic world.
Azerbaijan’s capital city Baku was awarded the Games at the General Assembly of the Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation (ISSF) in Jeddah in July 2013.
