YARAT Contemporary Art Space held the night of the Museum exploring Azerbaijan’s eastern side.

The event was a series of consecutively occurring events, such as dance, literature, live music and body painting. Every participant felt the essence of the east. The guests got henna tattoos, took part in an extraordinary dance performance, dressed in national Azerbaijani costumes, took memorable photos and listened to one of the most known Azerbaijani literature master piece – “Khosrov and Shirin” by Nizami Ganjavi.

Henna corner, Cumbia open dance class, live performance by “YUG” theatre, poetry reading corner (Azerbaijani), poetry reading corner (Russian), live performance by “YUG” theatre, national dance open class, live concert by Sevda Alakbarzadeh, salsa open dance class were held as part of the event.

Also, A beautiful “Nizami Symphony” by Fikret Amirov was performed by the State Chamber Orchestra named after Gara Garayev and conducted by the incomparable Yalchin Adigozalov. Adigozalov previously collaborated with renowned soloists including Mstislav Rostropovich, S. Stadler, Nikolai Arnoldovich Petrov, Boris Berezovsky, D. Kogan, and P. Jablonsky.

YARAT is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to nurturing an understanding of contemporary art in Azerbaijan and to creating a platform for Azerbaijani art, both nationally and internationally. Based in Baku, YARAT (meaning CREATE in Azerbaijani) was founded by Aida Mahmudova in 2011. YARAT realises its mission through an on-going program of exhibitions, education events and festivals. YARAT facilitates exchange between local and international artistic networks including foundations, galleries and museums.
