The Day of Azerbaijani Cuisine was held as part of the Yi-lan International Children's Folklore and Folkgame Festival (YICF) in Taiwan.

Guests of the event familiarized themselves with Azerbaijan's rich and distinctive culture, traditional clothes and delicious national dishes, including pilaf, dushbere and choban salad, Azertac reported.

Naturally rich Azerbaijan is famous for its delicious fruits and vegetables, dairy and meat products as well as its diverse cuisine.

Pilaf is another highly addictive dish. Although it is not easy to prepare real Azerbaijani pilaf, you can eat anywhere in the world, so be careful with the desire to prepare it at your home country. Pilaf is rice with meat, dried fruits, fresh herbs, or vegetables. There are many variations of this dish.

Dolma – one of Baku’s most delicious foods, which encourages excessive consumption. Dolma is made of fresh meat wrapped in grape leaves, that is served with a sour milk and garlic sauce. You should always be aware of the variations of dolma, which might include cabbage and tomatoes, or eggplants and sweet pepper stuffing.

Dushbere, also spelled as dushbara, is sort of dumplings of dough filled with ground meat and cooked in a lamb broth. Per tradition, in Azerbaijan every woman have to, not only cook this popular dish, but also should be able to make dushbara as small as possible, to fit ten of them into a tablespoon.

Choban Salad is a lovely refreshing salad that you'll find all over the country especially in the summer when the tomatoes are at their sweetest and juiciest. Anyway it’s light, easy to prepare, and full of flavour.

Desserts are the last but the most addictive dishes in Azerbaijan. People cannot stop eating pakhlavas, shakarbura and preserves. All of these, served with full flavored tea are sheer heaven for sweet tooth.

Azerbaijan's Aysel-Buta folklore troupe also performed at the Yilan International Children's Folklore and Folkgame Festival.

The troupe performed Azerbaijani folk music and dances, including Yallı, Nelbeki and Naz eleme.

The Yilan International Children's Folklore and Folkgame Festival is an artistic festival in Taiwan, which has taken place during the summer vacation each year at the Dongshan River Water Park in Yilan County since 1996.
