Silk Way West Airlines, an Azerbaijani cargo airline that operates freight services linking Europe and Asia, has opened a long-awaited direct regular flight from Baku to the next destination in the Far East - Singapore.

The flights will be operated twice a week on a cargo plane B747-8F, and will connect other destinations around the world served by the Azerbaijani air cargo carrier.

Serving both as a base of Silk Way West Airlines and a hub, the Heydar Aliyev International Airport has geographical advantages for operators, flying en routes from Asia to Europe and back.

The growing network throughout Asia, the Middle East and the CIS, as well as competitive fuel prices provides additional flexibility and stability of the schedule for the airline fleet.

Silk Way West Airlines started its activities in 2012, since the issuance of the operator certificate by Azerbaijan Civil Aviation Administration.

Currently Silk Way West airline fleet consists of three Boeing 747-8F and two Boeing 747-400F. In the third quarter of 2016, the company expects to receive another aircraft B747-8F. Delivery of the new aircraft will enable the airlines to even broader its flight network.
